To know right is the most important

Buddha once said, the way to get rid of pains is not to try to escape but;

1. to see right    (Shouken, 正見)

2. to think right    (Shoshi,正思)

3. to speak right    (Shogo,正語)

4. to do right (Shogyo, 正行)

5. to live right (Shomyo, 正命)

6. to strive right (Shoshoujin,

7. to wish right (Shonen, 正念)

8. to decide right (Shojou, 正定)

He expounded the above as Hasshodou(八正道),or the Noble Eighfold Path.

  • get rid of A Aを無くす

Though there are many interpretations about it, I think the first and second path are the most important of the eight paths. Because if you make an error in the first and second, you are bound to go in the wrong direction on the other paths.

  • interpretation 解釈
  • make an error 間違いをする
  • be bound to~ きっと〜するだろう
  • directon 方向

According to my psychic reading, Buddha conveys that Seichi(正知), which includes both Shoken and Shoshi, is the most important.

  • according to A Aによれば
  • convey 伝える
  • include 含む

“Seichi” means to know right. There are a wide variety of objects you should know, such as daily lives, knowledge, faith, etc-everything in life. To know right might be difficult, because you need to know your Karma and fortune in your previous lives, too.

  • a wide variety of A 実に様々なA
  • object 対象
  • such as A Aのような
  • knowledge 知識
  • faith 信仰
  • fortune 運
  • previous life 前世

A man makes mistakes due to his ignorance. If he were well-informed, he could understand the other person’s standpoint and feelings, and then would not battle against him unnecessarily.

  • make a mistake 間違いをする
  • due to A Aのために
  • the other person 相手

For example, there are many people who commit sins  trying to disseminate or advertise a cult religion they belong to. It is too late for them to realize thier mistakes after practicing the religion for 20 years. They have committed sins, such as family trouble with money and the lack of service to his family. And they also make those members of the cult religion he persuaded to be so commit the same sin.

  • commit a sin 罪を犯す
  • belong to A Aに属する
  • It follows that…
  • persuade A to~ Aを説得して〜させる

If he ended up committing only this kind of sins in his daily lives, it might not be so serious. But the problem is there are so many religious faiths which make people unhappy. There are many members 0f a cult religion who worry about their present situations, seeing how its senior members or officials left its group, how they became ill and died.

If they realizes their mistakes during the lifetime, they might be saved. But it is too late for them to realize the mistakes after death. Their souls would be attracted to the World of the Dead, where the wicked spirit that maintains the religious organization resides, and couldn’t rest in peace. It is the end of his soul and  he would be a big burden to his offsprings, and clog his family’s spiritual line. It is his ignorance that he joined the cult whose purpose is collect money.

  • the World of the Dead 幽界
  • rest in peace 成仏する
  • because of A Aのために

Any religious group that collects money from believers by making them believe that they could get some benefit and using God’s name, can never be connected with the righteous gods.

  • believer 信者
  • connect 繋ぐ
  • righteous 正しい

A man of common sense would never join a cult, even if he doesn’t know anything about religions. The simple faith of devoting gratitude and offering incense sticks to ancestors on your own is the most important. More than this is unnecessary and lead to “Path to greed” of trying to take a shortcut by using invisible worlds.

  • a man of common sense
  • even if S+V たとえSがVするとしても
  • on one’s own 自分で
  • lead to A Aに通じつ
  • greed 欲望
  • shortcut 近道

Path to Heaven is to work, make efforts, and take care of your health rightly.

  • Heaven
  • take care of A Aの世話をする
