Actions are much more Important than Quibbles

People are lazy in nature. They know it’s important to be grateful to God, but when they’re busy, they don’t have time to offer their gratitude to God. To have a kamidana, a household shinto altar, at home as a visible thing would enable them to express their gratitude even for a couple of minutes like a habit.

As for holding a memorial service for ancestors, some people worry about the effects on themselves. Others think they don’t need to do it if they just think about it. But, in the World of Reality, actions are much more important than fantasy. To appease a hungry child, for example, there is no way but to give him food. Even if you feel sorry for the child, you can never fill the stomach without doing anything.

Human beings can do anything they want in everyday life. So it’s a praiseworthy act to offer gratitude to invisible beings without expecting anything in return. If you can do this, it shows that you’re a benevolent or merciful person and that you’re the person who can realize that you’re being kept alive. Or, if you expect something in return every time you do something for others or hate doing something without pay, you must be the kind of person that think you live alone and on your own.

Many of the Japanese cultures are the ones that people repeat the same pattern of actions such as the tea ceremony or traditional Japanese dances and quest for perfection for life. I hear that every time a person turns a Japanese tea cup in the tea ceremony, the person feels something different. Turning a tea cup is a once‐in‐a‐lifetime chance. The same thing will never reoccur.

By being absorbed in and concentrating on repeated actions, you can be set free from your physical body(the rule of the moon)and have a glimpse of the divinity hiding inside your heart. This is also a secret of religions.

  • set A free Aを自由にする
  • have a glimpse of A Aを垣間見る
